News, insights, and stories from our conservation work across Kenya
Featured
With a forest cover well below the internationally recommended minimum, Kenya is at a pivotal juncture in its ecological journey. Saving-Planet, in partnership with Kenyan schools, has embarked on an ambitious mission to contribute to the restoration of Kenya's forests and ecosystems: the establishment of one-hectare botanic gardens at each school in Kenya.
Conservation
Along Kenya's coastline, mangrove forests serve as vital nurseries for marine life, natural barriers against storm surges, and carbon sinks that help mitigate climate change. Our youth-led mangrove restoration initiatives in Watamu are showing remarkable results, with local communities taking ownership of their coastal ecosystems.
Agriculture
In the face of increasingly unpredictable rainfall patterns and prolonged droughts, smallholder farmers in Kenya's arid regions are adopting climate-smart agricultural practices. Through our CSA programs, communities are learning water-efficient irrigation, soil conservation techniques, and agroforestry systems that build resilience while improving food security.
Community
Young people are at the heart of everything we do at Saving Planet Foundation. From school botanic gardens to coastal clean-up drives, Kenyan youth are stepping up as environmental stewards. This is the story of how grassroots engagement and hands-on learning are shaping a generation of passionate conservationists.
